Palin uses Twitter to ask Muslims preparing a mosque to refudiate

The New York ground zero mosque that is so hotly debated is something Sarah Palin has asked Muslims to “refudiate”. The national lexicon now has to word “refudiate” after the many tweets Palin had Sunday with the made up word in it. In a series of Sarah Palin tweets, Muslims were urged to join the Tea Party in opposition to a project intended to promote harmony and understanding between cultures.

The refudiate words used by Palin caused the media to get on top of the Tea Party. The “Tea Party Americans” have heard everything they want, and the nation has heard all about this too. The ground zero mosque in Manhattan has been used just lately for attention by the Tea Party so Palin, of course, had to put in her opinion.

Palin uses ground zero mosque to get noticed

There is a project near ground zero which is 13 stories high which could be a mosque, community center, and gym for the American Society for Muslim Advancement and also the Cordoba Initiative promoting understanding between Islamic and Western culture, and Palin asks that the “peaceful” Muslims “refudiate”. CBS News reports that New York politicians are going both ways on the scale of the issue. Mayor Michael Bloomberg and state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo support the project, while Republican congressman Peter King and previous congressman Rick Lazio, a Republican running for governor, want an investigation to the project’s financing.

’Peaceful’ Muslims talked about by Palin

Palin’s first tweet on the issue said:

“Ground Zero Mosque supporters: doesn’t it stab you in the heart, as it does ours throughout the heartland? Peaceful Muslims, pls refudiate”

Liberal bloggers pounced on Sarah Palin’s tweet. Most made fun of her well-documented inability to speak or write intelligently. CBS News shows how Jon Henke attacked her comment more than the fact that she made up a word: “We want peaceful Muslims to distinguish themselves from radical Muslims, but we can’t distinguish between a peaceful Mosque and terrorists?”

Sarah Palin thinks she is as good as Shakespeare

After receiving the attention she was after, Palin did a bit more tweeting. Palin was made fun of continuously for her words. After previous tweets urging Muslims to join the Tea Party in opposition to a project that promotes cultural harmony were deleted, she wrapped up the series with a message trying to capitalize on the national punch line she has become: “‘Refudiate,’ ‘misunderestimate,’ ‘wee-wee’d up.’ English is a living language. Shakespeare liked to coin new words too. Got to celebrate it!”

The Wall Street Journal believes that Palin just made that last comment so she might be within the very same category as Shakespeare, Bush, and Obama. Bush used “Misunderestimate” many times. Obama used “wee-wee’d up” last August. White House spokesman Robert Gibbs tried to define the term: He stated “I think ‘wee-wee’d up’ is when individuals get nervous for no specific reason.”
